A building constructed in 1925 that previously served as Clayton’s town hall has undergone a significant restoration and now houses multiple tenants while maintaining its original architectural elements. The project was recognized on February 24 with the 2025 Downtown Investment Award, presented by the Downtown Development Advisory Board to Secondary Investment LLC., owned by Kevin and Carrie Lee, during the annual Downtown Awards ceremony.
The Station, as the building is now called, originally contained municipal offices, police and fire departments, a library, and a courtroom. The recent renovation preserved features such as original brickwork, hardwood floors, and ceilings. At the same time, modern infrastructure updates were added to accommodate new uses for the space.
The restoration was completed through a partnership between the Town of Clayton and Secondary Investment LLC. According to nominations for the award, Kevin and Carrie Lee’s efforts have revitalized an important historic structure and created a hub that supports local businesses in downtown Clayton.
Carrie Lee stated: “The Station stands as proof that strategic investment and collaboration can create something truly lasting.”
The Downtown Investment Award is intended to recognize projects that preserve historic character while supporting growth in downtown Clayton. The renovated former town hall will continue serving community needs into the future.
