COUNTY OF JOHNSTON: County Commissioners Accepting Applications for Vacant District 4 Commissioner Seat

County of Johnston issued the following announcement on Feb. 25.

Please be advised that the Johnston County Board of Commissioners is accepting applications from interested citizens to be considered for appointment as a Johnston County Commissioner representing County Commissioner District 4, which is being vacated at the end of February 2022.

Pursuant to North Carolina General Statute 153A-27, to be eligible for appointment to fill a vacancy, a person must be a member of the same political party and be a resident of the same district as the member being replaced; therefore, applicants must be a registered Republican and reside within County Commissioner District 4.

Interested citizens are encouraged to contact the Johnston County Board of Elections Office at (919) 989-5095 to verify that they reside within County Commissioner District 4 before applying. Any citizen that wishes to be considered must submit an application to the following address:

You can also submit through email by sending an application to paula.woodard@johnstonnc.com. If you have any questions please call (919) 989-5100. The deadline to submit applications is Friday, March 11, 2022 by 5:00 p.m. Applications will be date and time stamped at the time of receipt. Applications may be mailed via U.S. Mail. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure their application is received no later than 5:00 p.m. on March 11. Applications received after 5:00 p.m. on March 11 will not be accepted regardless of the reason. Application forms are available in the Clerk to the Board’s Office, Johnston County Courthouse, 207 E. Johnston Street, Room B-206, Smithfield, NC or may be downloaded from the County’s website.
