0Comments

County of Johnston issued the following announcement on Apr. 25.

The Johnston County Veterans Council will host a Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday, May 30, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the Superior Courtroom at the Johnston County Courthouse in Smithfield. The event will feature keynote speaker, (Retired) U.S. Army Sergeant Major Brad Palmer.

“We all owe an unwavering debt of gratitude to the brave men and women who have, are, and will keep us free. I encourage everyone to take the time to remember the sacrifices these men and women have made on our behalf,” said Director of Veterans Services Robert Boyette.

The public is invited to attend this year’s ceremony. The event will also be livestreamed on the County’s YouTube channel at youtube.com/jocogovnc.  All veterans are encouraged to take part in the Memorial Day Ceremony or join us virtually as we pause to remember those who have died while serving in our nation’s military.
