County of Johnston issued the following announcement on Dec. 18.

The museum is operated by the Johnston County Heritage Center and is ideally situated on Market Street, in the middle of Historic Downtown Smithfield, NC.

People of all ages, representatives from the County, and other local officials were present for the ribbon cutting. 

The museum presents a comprehensive timeline of Johnston County’s history, starting with prehistoric times and ending in the present day.
