There have been exactly 240,988 crossings in October according to a Fox News article. This is higher than the 231,529 record set in October of 2022 and an even lower amount back in 2021 at 164,837. As these numbers continue to rise, officials have started to express more concern for these unhealthy numbers. However, enforcing immigration laws has not been ideal.
As part of the response to this crisis, new strategies are being implemented.
Biden’s strategy has been trying to “combine consequences” for these types of illegal entering, according to a Fox News article. Technology and other resources have been put to use such as Expedited Removal and the asylum rule. Both set claims for individuals who are illegally crossing. Most Republicans have started to blame Biden’s administration’s border policies on the mess of the southern border according to Fox News.
