Roseann Logan has been named the Johnston County Public Schools (JCPS) Classified Employee of the Month for March, according to a Mar. 11 announcement. Logan serves as the bookkeeper at Selma Elementary and has lived in Johnston County for three decades.
The recognition highlights the contributions of classified staff members who support students and school operations across the district. JCPS serves over 37,000 students from pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade, according to the official website.
Logan said, “I feel very honored and grateful to be named Classified Employee of the Month. It means a lot to know that the work I do is appreciated. I enjoy being part of the team of JCPS and Selma Elementary and supporting our school community.” She explained that her motivation for joining JCPS came from her sons’ positive experiences at Selma Elementary: “My three boys attended Selma Elementary and had such a wonderful experience, which inspired me to become part of the school community. I wanted to give back and support a place that meant so much to our family.”
In reflecting on her role, Logan said, “Working as the bookkeeper at Selma Elementary has taught me how much goes into running a school each day, from coordinating people to managing supplies and planning. I’ve gained a greater appreciation for all the teamwork and organization it takes to support students and staff.” She added that she hopes “to continue growing by learning even more about how I can support and help things run smoothly. I’m grateful to be part of a team that works so hard for our students.”

Logan described her approach: “I try to create a supportive environment by being helpful, approachable, and willing to assist whenever someone needs it. I do my best to make sure things run smoothly so teachers and staff can focus on helping students succeed.” She also emphasized building relationships: “Student and staff relationships are important to me because it helps create a welcoming and supportive school environment. When someone needs assistance, I try to build those relationships by being friendly, helpful, and taking the time to listen.” Reflecting on memorable moments in her career she said organizing special appreciation days left an impact: “Seeing the staff feel recognized and valued makes it truly special. I’ve learned that gestures of appreciation can have a big impact on our school community.”
