Johnston County Public Schools have recognized several students for demonstrating exemplary character traits as part of their Character Education initiative. The district emphasizes character education through various activities and rewards, highlighting the importance of good character among students.

Vivi Perry, a fifth grader at East Clayton Elementary, was acknowledged for her dependability. She is described as a young leader who consistently demonstrates hard work, responsibility, and resilience. "Not only is she reliable in her own efforts but also displays a positive attitude and willingness to assist others," said school officials.

Hailey Lowery from West Clayton Elementary was recognized for self-discipline. Known for her leadership qualities, Lowery engages in numerous activities including violin lessons and mentoring younger students. Her dedication extends to embracing her Lumbee heritage by participating in cultural events and educating classmates about American Indian contributions.

Emelyn Casey, another fifth grader from Cooper Academy, exemplifies responsibility. She challenges herself academically while managing extracurricular activities such as piano lessons and cheerleading. "Casey leads by example through consistently coming to class prepared," noted educators at Cooper Academy.

Michai Rawlins, a senior at Clayton High School, received recognition for his compassion. As president of the Bridge Club, he organizes volunteer opportunities with local organizations and is known for his commitment to community service.

Jessica Aguilar Ventura from Wilson's Mills Elementary embodies respect. Teachers commend her for being considerate and willing to help others without being asked. "She takes on many tasks... Her teachers are exceptionally proud of her achievements," stated school representatives.

These students were celebrated by the Johnston County Board of Education for November 2024 due to their outstanding character traits that contribute positively to their schools and communities.
