Mrs. Yennifer Diaz has been recognized as the JCPS Classified Employee of the Month for December 2024. As an interpreter at North Johnston High, she serves as a crucial link for Spanish-speaking students and their families. Born in Guatemala, Mrs. Diaz moved to the United States at a young age and now lives with her husband and two children.
Her colleagues describe her communication style as professional, effective, and impartial when interacting with staff, administrators, students, and families.
Mrs. Diaz shared her thoughts on receiving this recognition: "This award makes me feel grateful and blessed to have this position and to work with such beautiful people."
She elaborated on how her role impacts students' school experiences: "Communicating with our Spanish-speaking students provides them with someone who can assist them with questions they or their families may have. This affects the children's overall school experience because I can provide a positive experience."
Discussing the importance of building relationships within the school community, Mrs. Diaz stated: "I believe that building relationships with students is important because we are mentors for all of the students at the school."
On collaboration within the school's environment, she emphasized: "To be successful, collaboration and teamwork is a must. In order to create a successful learning environment, we all put a little more effort into our jobs."
When asked about what she enjoys most about her job, Mrs. Diaz responded: "What I enjoy most about being an interpreter is that I can help close the language barrier gap."
For those considering joining JCPS, she offered encouragement: "I would say to anyone thinking of joining the JCPS team that in addition to being an integral part of a child's learning experience, you would get to work with amazing people."
