The Town of Clayton announced on Apr. 2 that its Economic Development team attended the ICSC Carolinas conference, held on March 30 and 31, to engage with retail developers and national brands about expanding business in the community.
The event brought together thousands of industry leaders focused on growing retail opportunities in expanding communities. For Clayton, participation was aimed at attracting new investments that could support amenities for residents and strengthen the local tax base.
During the conference, representatives from Clayton highlighted the town’s strong market fundamentals, ongoing population growth, strategic transportation access, and mixed-use projects already underway. The town’s trade area covers over 963 billion square feet with economic activity totaling $318.3 billion. The team also emphasized an unmet demand of $559 million within the community.
Clayton officials said their goal is to attract high-quality businesses in retail, dining, and entertainment sectors that will contribute to long-term economic vitality and reinforce Clayton’s status as a fast-growing community.
The Town stated it looks forward to building relationships with potential partners who see opportunity for growth in Clayton.
