The Town of Clayton has initiated a process to rezone a parcel at 3936 Powhatan Road in Johnston County. The property, identified by NC PIN 167700-39-7194 and Tax ID 05I05019B, is currently split-zoned between Residential Large Lot (RLL) and Corridor Commercial (CRM). Officials stated that the rezoning aims to assign a unified Corridor Commercial (CRM) zoning designation to correct a clerical error.

A Planning Board meeting was held on February 23, 2026, where the board recommended approval of the rezoning request to the Town Council. The next step will be a public hearing before the Town Council scheduled for March 16, 2026, at 6:00 PM at 111 E Second St, Clayton, NC.

Lori Bryant, Planner I for the Town of Clayton, is listed as the staff contact for questions regarding this rezoning action.
