Town of Smithfield issued the following announcement on Feb. 22.

The Town of Smithfield Public Utilities Department will be “swapping out” load management switches at already-participating home owners/customers over the next couple of months. Contractors hired to perform this service will be contacting customers by phone or door-to-door and will have identification, indicating they are contractors, representing the town.
