The Town of Clayton announced on Mar. 13 that a request has been submitted to rezone a parcel in the Winston Pointe development from Planned Development Residential to Conditional Zoning Residential. The application, identified as case number 2024-138-CZM, seeks to update Phase 3H of the Winston Pointe Master Plan by changing the permitted use from “Church” to “Single-Family Attached” townhomes.

This conditional rezoning is classified as Type 3, which means it includes a Concept Plan outlining the proposed changes. The property in question is located on the southerly portion of Winston Road, east of Red Jasper Way, within the Town’s extraterritorial jurisdiction (ETJ). It is listed under NC PIN: 164800-69-6470 and Johnston County Tax ID: 05F01024A.

A Planning Board meeting will be held on March 23, 2026, at 6:00 PM in the Council Chambers at 111 E Second St, Clayton. The public can attend this meeting to learn more about the proposal and provide input.

Residents or interested parties seeking additional information are encouraged to contact Robert Tate, Senior Planner for the Town of Clayton, via email at rtate@townofclaytonnc.org or by phone at 919.553.5002.

The outcome of this rezoning request could influence future residential development patterns in the area and determine how land within Phase 3H will be used moving forward.
