A North Carolina state representative wants residents to know that a health care company is providing insulin at a reduced cost during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Rep. Donna McDowell White (R-Clayton) posted to her Facebook page on April 8, that Indianapolis-based Lilly created the Lilly Insulin Value Program, which makes the much-needed diabetes drug available for $35 for a monthly prescription.
"I want to share an important update about Lilly’s efforts to address insulin affordability," White said in a Facebook post. "In response to the crisis caused by COVID-19, Lilly is introducing the Lilly Insulin Value Program, allowing anyone with commercial insurance and those without insurance to fill their monthly prescription of Lilly insulin for $35."
The new program will cover all Humalog insulin formulas and most other Lilly insulins, according to the press release. Individuals can call the Lilly Diabetes Solution Center to obtain their savings during the pandemic at 833-808-1234.
"It's critical that people with diabetes can reliably access insulin at a low, consistent out-of-pocket cost," CEOs Aaron Kowalski and Thom Scher said in the press release. "Enabling a $35 per month insulin co-pay regardless of employment status will help many Americans in this difficult time,"
