The Town of Clayton recently hailed the success of its Finance Department, which earned a “Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting” from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States.
This is the 19th year in a row the department received the award, Clayton officials said in a November news release.
“This is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management,” a statement from the town reads.
This is also the 11th year that the award has been received under the leadership of Robert McKie, current Clayton Finance Director, the statement said. Nancy Medlin, deputy town manager, brought home the award eight years in a row when she was the town’s finance director.
According to the statement, the certificate is awarded based on the town’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report, which provides stakeholders and local officials with the town’s current financial position.
