County of Johnston issued the following announcement on Oct. 30.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Centers for Disease Control (CDC) have authorized and recommended the Pfizer COVID-19 pediatric vaccines for children ages 5-11. Children ages 5-11 are now eligible to receive a Pfizer COVID-19 pediatric vaccination primary series.
The Johnston County Public Health Department will begin offering COVID-19 vaccines for individuals five years of age and older starting Thursday, November 4, 2021 at 9:00 a.m. COVID-19 vaccines (Moderna, Johnson & Johnson and Pfizer) will be offered daily for individuals five years of age and older, Monday-Friday from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. and on Tuesdays until 6:00 p.m. at the Health Department. Walk-ins are welcome. No appointment necessary at this time.
The Health Department will host a COVID vaccine clinic on Saturday, November 6, 2021 from 9:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m. for individuals 5-18 years old. The Health Department is located at 517 N. Brightleaf Blvd., Smithfield, NC. Celtic Creamery of Smithfield will be on site selling ice cream.
