Town of Benson issued the following announcement on Mar. 28.
Recently, the Police Department has seen an increase in reports of vehicles being entered and property taken, as well as items being removed from yards and carports. While the holiday season is more known for these types of activities, theft can happen any time of year.
BPD encourages all Town of Benson residents to lock their car doors and keep any items left inside the vehicle to a minimum, and also out of view. Additionally, residents are encouraged to report suspicious activity and/or persons by calling 911.
"Our citizens are very aware of what appears normal and routine in their neighborhoods, and they will know when something or someone seems out of place. We want them to let us know when that happens, so we can look into it, and maybe prevent these types of incidents from reoccurring," said Chief Greg Percy.
