Town of Smithfield issued the following announcement on Aug. 24.
Due to heavy rains and and unsafe depth and flow rate of the Neuse River, the River Rat Regatta has been moved to Saturday, August 27th at the boat ramp, located at 295 Front Street in downtown Smithfield, beginning at 5pm.
The good news is that you'll have another week or so to build a boat solely out of cardboard, glue and duct tape and join us for the fun! Register at bit.ly/2022Regatta.
Even if you're not competing, make plans to join us for this one-of-a-kind race, plus we'll have food trucks, live music from Downpour and more.
