Town of Benson Police Department issued the following announcement on March 6.
We continue to receive reports of a scam call posing as the Town of Benson Utilities Department.
The Town of Benson DOES NOT use a robo/automated calling system to request utility payments to avoid disconnection.
PLEASE NOTE: The Town of Benson does use robo/automated calling for notification purposes only, NEVER to request immediate payment over the phone.
REMEMBER — you can always call Benson Town Hall at (919) 894-3553 and speak with one of our Customer Service Representatives in Utilities for any questions about your utility bills.
If you receive any suspicious calls about your utility bills, please do not disclose any personal or financial information to individuals who are asking unusually detailed questions about you or your business.
Please report any suspicious phone calls to the Benson Police Department at (919) 894-2091.
