Riverwood Elementary names Midalys Albornoz employee of the month

Mrs. Midalys Albornoz has been named the Classified Employee of the Month for March 2025 at Riverwood Elementary. As the school's receptionist, she is known for her welcoming demeanor and dedication to supporting students, parents, and staff.

Albornoz's role involves ensuring safety, answering inquiries, and contributing to the smooth operation of the school day. She is praised for her team spirit and effective communication skills. "I’m honored and grateful to be named the Classified Employee of the Month," Albornoz said. "This recognition inspires me to keep striving for excellence."

Raised in Puerto Rico, Albornoz holds a bachelor's degree in Office Management and Administrative Processes from the University of Puerto Rico. She moved to North Carolina from Colorado two and a half years ago and enjoys traveling and hiking.

Her work as a receptionist is seen as crucial in creating a positive first impression at Riverwood Elementary. "As a receptionist, my role is crucial for making a positive first impression by being friendly, calm and professional," she explained.

Albornoz emphasizes the importance of building relationships within the school community. "It is important to build relationships with students, staff, and families at Riverwood Elementary because a positive relationship improves mental health, promotes learning and successful teamwork," she stated.

Collaboration with colleagues is also vital in her view: "Teamwork and collaboration are important because they affect all of our students in becoming exemplary citizens in the future."

Reflecting on her job satisfaction, Albornoz noted, "What I enjoy most about my job is serving and facilitating the public, students and supporting staff." She encourages others considering joining Johnston County Public Schools (JCPS) by saying: "Don't hesitate! There are opportunities for growth, recognition and a positive work environment."
