City of Wilson issued the following announcement on Dec. 20.
The City of Wilson will be closed Tuesday-Thursday, Dec. 24-26, for the Christmas holiday. This includes the customer service business office, offices at City Hall and the Operation Center, and the city’s recreation centers.
However, many city services will not be shut down that entire time. Police, fire and utility services are continuously staffed.
Environmental services will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday. Households that normally have garbage and recycling pickup on Tuesday will instead be served on Thursday, Dec. 26. There will be no Wednesday pickup of bulky items this week.
Monday, Thursday and Friday routes will all be on schedule. Call 399-2424 or use the Fix-It Wilson app to schedule special pickups.
Wedgewood Golf Course and the pool at Wilson Recreation Center will both be open Tuesday and Thursday and only closed on Christmas Day.
Wilson Transit will be shut down Wednesday and Thursday, but the city bus service will run until noon Tuesday to assist people going to work or wanting to do last-minute shopping before the holiday.
All city offices will be open for regular business Monday and Friday. People wanting to pay bills at other times may do so online at the city’s website, WilsonNC.org; using the automated system at 399-2200; or leaving payments in the dropbox at the customer service center on Nash Street (near the drive-thru lanes).
Customer service may be reached during business hours at 399-2200.
