Rep. Donna McDowell White (R-Clayton) reminded residents that she is here to help them as the state deals with the COVID-19 outbreak, according to multiple Facebook posts in mid-March.
The state representative also posted information on her Facebook page about obtaining a Small Business Administration disaster loan.
In a Facebook post, White said the state's 100 counties are included in the disaster declaration.
Small businesses can apply for disaster loans through the SBA. If business owners have an interest in borrowing, they are encouraged to contact the Business Link North Carolina (BLNC), White said.
BLNC counselors will gather information from the caller to help them with the most appropriate resource, White said on Facebook. Small business owners will receive help from the Small Business Technology Development Center (SBTDC) or the Small Business Center Network (SBCN) experts.
She also posted on Facebook that she is doing her best to reply to every constituent email and phone call.
"Please know that every constituent email and phone call are important to me! The volume of messages and emails I am receiving is vast right now," White said in the post. "I’m working as hard as I can — up to 20 hours per day — to answer each one quickly. If I do not get back with you immediately, it’s simply because I haven’t had time to get to it yet. But I will."
White has met in person and through conference calls with Gov. Roy Cooper, medical workers and other government officials to discuss COVID-19 and how the state will move forward.
"I know you are worried, but I want you to know as you representative and as a registered nurse who has worked most of my career in public health, everything that is humanly possible is being done to contain and mitigate this virus in North Carolina," White said in a Facebook post. "The technical information that I have sent is a product of the latest information based on a combination of several long meetings. The number of cases may be slightly off as it changes constantly but it was the total late yesterday afternoon."
