Principal Lyndsey Dunn and the faculty at McGee’s Crossroads Elementary School recently welcomed participants from the Assistant Principal Accelerator (APA) program for a school visit and instructional walks. The APA program is designed to provide leadership development and coaching for assistant principals, helping them prepare to lead high-needs schools.

The program offers "just-in-time" leadership development with guidance from experienced practitioners. It aims to accelerate the readiness of selected assistant principals through a focused curriculum of leadership experiences and coaching.

Lyndsey Dunn, who was part of the first cohort of the APA program developed by NCPAPA, is now in her third year as principal. Reflecting on her experience, she said, "The APA program was such an important part of preparing me to become a principal. I have been extremely fortunate to have wonderful mentors pour into me over the years, such as the ones who visited our school." She added, "Being thought of as someone who can pour into other principals stepping into their role is an honor."

During her tenure at McGee’s Crossroads Elementary, Dunn has led the school to significant success. She expressed enthusiasm about sharing her experiences with aspiring assistant principals: “If nothing else, I hope they took away that being a principal is the hardest, yet most rewarding job they will ever have,” she remarked. “It's a gift to make a difference."

Dunn's leadership continues to make a positive impact on both her staff and students.
