Town of Smithfield issued the following announcement on Mar. 21.
The Town of Smithfield is currently in need of volunteers to help clean up trash along town roadways during the Spring Litter Sweep on Saturday, April 23rd, from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Held in conjunction with the NCDOT Litter Sweep, volunteers will begin at three starting points across Smithfield:
Sarah Yard Community Center, 909 E. Lee Street
Bob Wallace Jaycee Kiddie Park, 350 S. Front Street
Smithfield Community Park, 700 M. Durwood Stephenson Parkway
During last year’s cleanup events, Adopt-A-Highway groups, NCDOT employees and volunteers from across the state removed over 13 MILLION pounds of litter.
In addition with assisting in Smithfield’s Spring Litter Sweep, civic organizations, businesses, churches and other groups are encouraged to continue to serve by participating in our own Adopt-A-Street program to help keep our roadways clean.
