On May 28, U.S. Congressman Wiley Nickel (NC-13) issued the following statement after being briefed by White House officials on the debt ceiling agreement negotiated by President Biden and Speaker McCarthy:
“In such a closely divided Congress, compromise is necessary for legislation to clear the House, Senate, and get on to the President’s desk,“ said Congressman Wiley Nickel. “It's encouraging that President Biden and Speaker McCarthy were able to find common ground for the good of the country. I was glad to attend a White House briefing for Members of Congress on the substantive details of the agreement. I look forward to reviewing the legislative text of the proposed agreement and remain ready to return to Washington on Tuesday.”
