Johnson County notified residents that the wastewater collection systems had discharges of 1,000 gallons or more after a torrential rainstorm hit the area on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1.
The September alert to residents within the Four Oaks areas is a statutory requirement when wastewater discharge of more than 1,000 gallons reaches surface waters.
Although the county does not maintain official rain gauges in the Four Oaks area, some individuals reported up to 14 inches of rainfall.
The following locations were affected:
- About 78,000 gallons in the vicinity of 400 Fawnbrook Drive, Four Oaks discharged into a tributary to Holts Lake.
- Around 15,000 gallons in the vicinity of 96 Hillsboro Road, Four Oaks discharged into Meadow Branch a tributary to Black Creek.
- Approximately 37,500 gallons in the vicinity of 560 Wilkins Road, Four Oaks discharged into Black Creek.
- About 10,000 gallons in the vicinity of 747 Devils Racetrack Road, Four Oaks discharged into an unnamed tributary to the Neuse River.
- An estimated 1,500 gallons in the area of 300 Royalty Court, Garner discharged into Buffalo Creek.
