Town of Selma Police Department issued the following announcement on Nov. 21.
The Selma Police Department extends our heart felt apologies for all the families effected by this tragic and senseless event that took place on 01/04/2020. Selma Officers were dispatched to a shooting at W Preston St and S Green St. Selma NC, 27576. Officers located Mr. Malik Shepherd and Mr. Tyquan Dublin suffering from gunshot wounds. Mr. Shepherd did not survive his injuries.
After a very thorough investigation by Selma Police Sgt. Baker and other officers, NC SBI, NCIS and Four Oaks PD. There was three suspects taken into custody and charged.
Julian Furr convicted of 2nd Degree Murder sentenced to 17-20 years in DOC.
Kevin Ruiz convicted of 2nd Degree Murder sentenced to 17-20 years in DOC.
Marcus Thomas convicted of 2nd Degree Murder sentenced to 8.5 years in DOC.
This case was brought to a close by very good Police work by all agencies involved
