Steve Benson, a custodian at Polenta Elementary, has been named the Classified Employee of the Month for September 2024. Known for his dedication and willingness to support staff, Benson has played a crucial role in maintaining a clean and safe environment at the school.
In the absence of a head custodian, Benson stepped up to lead the custodial team. He organized and led the summer cleaning crew during a period when HVAC units were being updated and there was frequent activity in and out of the building.
A recent Sparkle Inspection revealed that the school building is now cleaner than it has been in 15 years. This achievement is attributed to Benson's leadership and his commitment to ensuring that both staff members and students come into a clean building each day.
Benson serves as a role model not only to his fellow custodial staff but also to the children at Polenta Elementary. His efforts have significantly contributed to making the school a cleaner place.
